That awkward moment when Tijuana is in the US
Maybe they’re referring to the Tijuana River Reserve?

“NO. Just NO. There is still cotton because people PAY for it. If there are no taxes, who will pay for the roads? If there is no way to pay for it, how can it be built? Are the materials just going to materialize out of thin air? Are the machines just going to magically run themselves? Even if the materials didn’t cost anything, the people laying the roads kind of need to eat and have a place to live, you know! Use your brains!”

I can’t tell you about a cotton shortage, but I can tell you a great story about the collapse of the economy in the south after the abolition of slavery. I know, I know, using historical examples to explain things to Libertarians is about as effective as giving a fish a bicycle. If anything, their complete and utter disregard for American history is a reason we should *increase* taxes. Our schools clearly need more funding for social studies classes.
I love how Paulbots feel totally justified comparing taxes to slavery. Yeah, paying a tiny portion of your salary to cover roads and schools and other social programs that benefit you is totally like being owned by another human being. Totally.
Well, there can be roads without taxation, they’ll all be privately owned by some rich dude looking to make more money and there will probably be a tolling station every 5 miles.
^lul.
Higher taxes also do so much! We get to spend more on “education” aka we never spend on education because politicians don’t have a short term incentive to do so because all of its results are in the long run and don’t directly benefit them. Of course all of our liberal politicians will do so much for education. Liberal politicians are hella more reputable and un-politician like!. Both sides are trash. Lawl. Group think from the political party, that pork shit to get their names out there, caring for the constituents that actually care to vote, and for the people that give out the most funds during fundraisers so they can campaign for re election, it’s not like this shit only pertains to one side of the party.
But yeah, that argument makes no sense LOL. Tell me about the shortage of slaves since slavery was abolished. lawl. That makes more of a correlation than taxes->slavery LOL
Omfg Kenneth. I knew you were smart!

It’s been almost a year and a half since I visited the Jenny McCarthy Body Count. In that time, it looks like over 250 unnecessary vaccine-preventable deaths and over 20,000 illnesses have occurred because of Jenny and her ilk spreading brain-meltingly frustrating misinformation about the safety of vaccines.
Sure, she’s not the only guilty one, but she’s the leader of a dangerous movement that’s still quite active today.
This from a woman whose website has the following headline up today: 21 Benefits of Enzymes and Why You Need Them … oh I dunno, maybe to complete basic biological functions and literally BE ALIVE?!?!
A society that cares about science more will be a society that cares less about Jenny McCarthy. Keep up the good fight, and keep sharing science with your friends. Someone’s life may depend on it.

Help me by adding quotes or a background or anything to make this picture better :p Think of the possibilities!
I see a guy who is staring at RDJ and is thinking to himself “Oh he’s so dreamy…” But I just can’t integrate that into the picture! Help me~~~~
Picture is originally from this post.
ThinkProgress reports: “An Oklahoma emergency room doctor refused to provide emergency contraception to a 24-year-old female rape victim because the medication violated the health provider’s personal beliefs… ‘I will not give you emergency contraceptives because it goes against my believes,’ the doctor allegedly told the rape victim and her mother, Rhonda. ‘She knew my daughter had just been raped. Her attitude was so judgmental and I felt that she was just judging my daughter.’
Oklahoma law shields providers from offering the perfectly legal medication under a ‘conscience clause’ which could significantly hinder women’s access to contraception services.”
This is sick. You might have to carry your rapist’s child because MY beliefs say so? In what universe is that OK? Whatever happened to “first, do no harm” – and I mean the living, breathing patient in front of you, not a maybe baby conceived by a rape. The religious right whines about secularism intruding into their beliefs, but what is more intrusive than forced pregnancy?
This woman was luckily able to get EC at another hospital. Other people might not be so lucky.
If my religion, for example, said that I am not allowed to put any unnatural substances or chemicals in my body, am I allowed to refuse to treat a patient who has cancer?

“That is enough. Enough risking our lives for a little girl who’s gone! Enough living next to a barn full of things that are trying to kill us. Enough. Rick, it ain’t like it was before! Now if y’all want to live, if you want to survive, you got to fight for it! I’m talking about fighting right here, right now.”
I was so happy when he died. >:(
